The "Process"

Every artist has a different process. And a different process for each medium they work in. Having more time has allowed me to paint more - which is something I really missed doing. My painting process involves sketching self portraits, then cutting up and weaving those sketches together, then sketching that new picture onto canvases. From there, I follow the patterns I see and weave colors through it, connecting all the spaces. Now that sounds like nonsense when written out, but it makes plenty of sense in my mind!

When I draw gag cartoons, the joke usually comes before the image. Every once in a while I think of something that looks funny and I figure out the gag later. This always leads to an image with multiple line options. Instead of parring it down, I just send them all out and see what sticks!

For this one, I had read about people trying to smuggle out ranch on planes. So how else do you smuggle things? I tried out a bunch of taglines after the sketch was done.

When it comes to drawing bean boy, there is no process, only vibes.
